Today was the beginning of a new era. We met with the president, and it was a bit surprising. He had a gun strapped to his hip and one slung around hi shoulder. He wore a well tailored suit with one leg tailored to knee height. This revealed a prosthetic leg. I caught myself staring at it as did the president, because he said, "I lost it in the initial outbreak, on the way to the safe room the head of the secret service took a hunk out of my calf, and it had to be removed. I had all my pant legs shortened in order to put it on display. I want the people know that I've lost things as well. I'm not untouchable, just like them. So, what do you have for us."
I told them our story, and gave them the formula for the cure. The president thanked us and told us we are to stay there and help out as best we can. He said the thing we achieved were far greater then what the full power of the American Government could achieve. He also told me they had contact with all the nations of the UN, and that rough estimates put the death toll at 5 billion. This was the first time I had hear how many had been killed. It will take a great effort to save our species, but I know it can be done. God promised he would sustain us, and I haven't lost my faith.
I have been placed on the research team to mass produce the cure, and engineer a vaccine. Raito has been placed on the R&D team to improve the bases tech. Luna, Bruce, Cody, and Samantha will be placed in security ranks. Evelyn has been placed on security detail as well, but as a body guard for me. This was a special request I made. I have enough training now to defend myself. I just want to spend more time with her. I really do love her.
Revelation 20:3 And death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

Delay
Our meeting with the President has been pushed back until tomorrow. We were supposed to meet with him three days ago, but while then where running test on all of us, they found out that Bruce had been bitten. They were worried he may have delay symptoms, and would turn.
I just chillin' in my room when he came storming in with two guards, who had there sight trained on my forehead. He claimed I had lied to him and he told me Bruce was scheduled for a 3:30 termination. I tried to tell him that he HAD been bitten, but he had cut off his hand in time, and that it had been days since the bite happened. It took all I could to convince him to not kill Bruce, and then he took my laptop, he thought it was suspicious that such a ragtag group of college students had crisscrossed the state, have developed such technology to run electrical devices silently, and discovered a cure to the must dangerous disease ever to exist. He wanted to run a thorough scan of my computer, to see if I was part of some terrorist organization, or something like that.
Today he sent his assistant into my room to return my things. She told me thy had determined Bruce to be safe, and that the fungus was inactive in his system. She informed me that not only has the infection stopped, but that he was now immune to future bites. This is amazing news, it not only means we cans save those already bitten, but we can create a vaccine for those going into the field to clear out the slackjaws. So tomorrow is the big day we will meet the commander and chief.

Separated
Today we found a giant metal door with a com system. I hesitantly pressed the comm button, and a women's voice responded. "San Diego Center of Disease Control, how may I be of service." I was shocked to hear such formality, but I quickly responded explaining the situation. There was silence then a few minutes of silent muttering on the other side. Afterwards a mans voice came on. It was gruff and authoritative. He said, "Now I warn you if you are lying to me I will throw you out. If you are telling me this story because you have a sick member of your party and you're worried we won't take them, or some other BS like that tell me now, and we will still let you in." "No I am telling the truth." I responded.
After some more silence the woman's voice came back on. "OK sweeties we have some procedure. You will enter the first gate. You will be greeted by a team of our friendly service representatives. You will lay all weapons and bags on the floor, take ten steps to the left and stand with your hands on your head as we search you things. You will then be separated and quarantined. you will spend two days there and will be reunited afterwards. If you follow these instructions you will be given a meeting with the President and his staff." All of our jaws dropped. We had no idea the president was here, but that makes sense he was on the west coast at the time off the breakout. We did as they said, they searched and separated us. They gave us our bags back after searching them and removing all weapons. In two days we'll be meeting the president.

We Made It... Sort Of
Today was the final leg of our journey, that was until we came the a twenty-five foot tall concrete wall. We got onto a third story roof and looked over it and what we saw was another wall just passed it. They completely surround the CDC building and when we waved down a guard we got shot at. We could see that he has a national guard uniform. He probably thought we we're slack-jaws. We have to get a message to them somehow. I don't want to risk hitting someone with an arrow by firing a message passed the walls.

Bruce
So Bruce is fine. A little feverish but nothing extreme. We're gonna set up base here for a couple days, and let things die down. We have plenty of supplies here the hardware store has water and snack that they would sell at the registers. In the mean time we're gonna see about making some weapons. I think I can make some simple crossbows. I also will be spending some time with Evelyn. She's having a hard time. This was her first mob. She is used to only taking on maybe a dozen at a time. Yesterday we encountered a practical sea of slackers. It takes a lot to shake up someone like Evelyn, and I want to be here for her. Any way I'll post again when we are heading out.
Oh gosh. I wish I could share this site with you all. Bruce has been secluding himself to the back room for some reason and we all just discovered why. He stands before me with a wrist mounted chainsaw where his hand should be. That won't fly. It'll be to noisy. Haha he looks like something out of a bad 80's horror movie.

Well That Didn't Work
Right now we're hold up in hardware store that we had to duck into quickly. We thought we had hit a lucky break when we looked out the front door and there were no slackers we got down about half a block to a street corner. When we looked down the other street there was a whole mob only sixty feet away. Luckily they hadn't noticed us. So we tried sneaking across the street, but as we were passing some cars in the intersection Damion got grabbed by a slacker that was under one of the cars.
He started screaming as the slack-jaw bit his leg. With the noise, the mob down the street noticed us and began shambling towards us as well as two that were in a nearby car. The two nearby jumped on Damion. He began yelling "Go I'm to far gone" we don't have the medication to slow it down". However we decided to ignore him and beg and trying to pull him away. He pulled his gun on us and told us to back off. when we refused he, with out hesitation put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
We all ran away from them and headed to the first unlocked store, and that was the hardware store in which we now reside. The store also had a metal security gate which spreads across the whole storefront. We should be pretty safe here, and we lost the slackers we got in the store before they turned the corner. So after we got into the hardware store we noticed Bruce was missing. From the back we heard a chop and a muffled scream. We all ran ready for a fight and we found Bruce holding an ax. He was biting down on a hand shovel. Next to him was his severed hand. Even with it covered in blood I could see a very clear bite mark. We managed to stop the blood and gave him a crap load of anti-biotics hoping he got his hand off fast enough. We'll know by the morning.

Setting Up the Journey
So all of the phone lines in this building are down. I assume this means there is no need for phones. The only survivors must be the ones keeping the power on. We're using Google maps to find the best route. Right now we are at the Alvarado Water Treatment plant we are 9 miles away from the CDC building near Heritage Park. this is gonna take a while considering we have tofind a path through slack-jaw infested territory. The best route will probably the Mission Vally Freeway. Most of it is raised up to overpasses so the slack jaw count will be minimal. The problem is making shelter while on the freeway we'll probably have to just make camp and set up watches. Hopefully we'll find some abandoned cars. Tomorrow we'll leave for the CDC, and hopefully in three days the cure will be in the hands of those who can mass produce it.

We're In!!
Yesterday we hit a huge break. We found a water treatment center that was outside the fence. This water treatment center has been shut down for month. There isn't any water in the pipes, so we were able to walk into the cities water main. We came up in the distribution center. The city had quarantined this off to avoid contamination of the water, so we walked in with only a couple slack-jaws to greet us. we've set up shop here now, and I now have in my possession the emergency procedures handbook, with plenty of first aid advice, location of supplies, oh and THE NUMBER FOR THE CDC!!!! Right now we need to just find a working phone and we can call them. A good sign is that the cities power grid is still up. This means someone important needs power. I'm hoping that someone is the CDC.

The First Attempt
Two days ago we tired getting into the city, and quickly failed. We were in the city for no longer than 20 minutes before we were overrun. Luckily we got out without losing anyone. We tried to sneak in during the day, that is when slack-jaws are the least attentive. Most of them have on eyes, and go by sound and smell. For those that still have eyes, they are fragile, and the sun blinds them, so they stay in the dark. These one are the most dangerous. Their fungus started feeding their bodies earlier than others, so they rotted less. These slack-jaws can run, not to fast but they never run out of juice, so they can wear us down.
we're slowly working our way around the city, stopping at whatever shelter we find. We're looking for an area that has a lower population of slack-jaws, but it feels as though they've all found their way to the streets. Normally walking down a city street isn't to crowded, but imagine if the entire population came down from all the buildings and started walking around. It's wall to wall death in there. Hopefully the next couple days will provide more luck.

San Diego
We didn't getting the reception we were hoping for in San Diego. During the start of the outbreak many major cities decided to put up giant fences to prevent the plague from spreading. The problem was that they didn't realize the plague had already made it into the city, and all they did was trap the citizen in with it. So now, all the citizens of San Diego are left, jaws slack, corralled in the city. Millions of them just waiting for us. We might be the first humans they've seen in months.
Somehow we have to get into the city, find the CDC and convince them to help us, without getting bitten. Plus, there's the added factor that there may be no one in the CDC at all. This is gonna take some crazy planning.
