Hiatus

Last night Brian showed me something that helped save us a lot of time and risk. He found some electric go carts. I freaked out when he turned the key. I thought it would get attention of the psychs outside, but when the engine revved up it was completely silent.  We spent a few hours loading our supplies, and the best part was tricking out the go carts. I found an awesome compound bow to use. I love bows, I've won two archery competition. We fastened ice skate blades to broom poles and attached them to various parts of the go carts. Each go cart carries two people. One person drove and one person actively fought. It was awesome. Nicky, Zoey, and Raito drove while Brian, Luna, and I fought. We mowed down dozens of psychs on our way to my house.
As we pulled up to the house we found it was surrounded psychs and all boarded up. We went around back and found that the slider door had been rigged to be opened from the inside. I found a key under a rock, and noticed a small box with a lock. I unlocked the box and found a lever. When I pulled it the sliding door unlocked. I walked in, and found an arrow in my face. It was my dad. He had a compound bow point up my left naval. The moment he realized it was me he dropped his bow, and hugged me.
Suddenly he backed up, and got dead serious. He told me my mother hadn't made it. I had tried to brace myself for that. My mom was always very sick. She had a lung transplant a few years ago, and she took medication that suppressed her immune system. My dad told me she passed away in her sleep after getting bitten, but the weird thing is she never turned. Here’s the deal for the next month I’ll be focusing on spending time with my father, and trying to figure out why my mother didn't change luckily I can turn my room into a lab. So, I’m going on hiatus. This research is more important, than my blog I might be able to find a cure. I’ll keep you all in my prayers.

Concord

We arrived in my home town. Concord is a significantly larger than tranquility. We didn't want the noise of the cars to lead any psychs to my home, so we stopped at a sporting goods store about two miles away. We ditched the car, and broke in. Inside we found some more bikes for the rest of us. We decided it would be wise get some safety equipment to protect us. Riding bikes will be difficult. We will have to actively fight while riding. Plus, we’ll be bogged down by supplies. So after we got ourselves set up for the journey, we decided to stay at the store for a night and rest up.  Well I have to go Brian is calling me over. I tell you what we found at my home tomorrow. I can’t believe I’m going to find my family again. I just hope they’re still alive.

Brian's Memorial

Today we all got up and packed the truck we’ll have plenty of supplies for the next couple weeks. I raided the drug stores pharmacy for necessities like anti-virals, pain killers, and antibiotics. After we packed we started on the memorial. I carved a head stone using a wood burning kit I found in his garage. Raito put together a playlist of music that would play on loop at the memorial until the juice ran out. Which would be a long time from now, since Zoey hooked up a series of light straight to the electrical grid, and she wired in the iPod and speaker. Luna made some bouquets for all of us to leave, and Nicky got a box of Brian’s stuff to bury.

After we all finished our tasks we lowered the box into a hole I dug, and took turns putting dirt on it. Afterwards we placed our bouquets, and a I gave a eulogy. “Brian Was a great friend before all this madness started we would all have dinner together and Brian was the one making us laugh. He never let anyone change him. Even with all this he still stayed upbeat. A lot could be said of Brian. He was a great strategist, funny, kind…” Incredibly handsome” said a voice behind me. I continued “Incredi…, wait…” I spun around and there was Brian a bent machete in one hand and handles bars from his bike in the other. He had the saddle bags from his bike around his neck. He was also missing a shoe, and…his pants.

I just stood jaw on the floor, when I felt a rush of air behind me. It was Nicky running at full speed towards him she jumped and hugged him knocking him to the ground she started kissing him all over his face, but then stopped. She slapped him right across the face and stood up, grabbing the handles bars from him. Brian asked, “What was that for?!” “That was for making me go through mourning.” She started wiling on him with the handle bars chasing him around the yard, while yelling at him. After a couple minutes he turned to face her. Grabbed the handle bars, and took them from her, and started pulling her towards him. She fought him but finally she gave up and he held her tight as she cried into his shoulder Brian simply said “I’m sorry.” They just stood there for several minutes her crying and him holding her trying not to cry. After she wiped her eyes of tear and he choked down his, they walked back over to us all. I asked Brian “What Happened”, and he told me “I’ll tell you later right now I need food, and pants.” He still hasn’t told me I’ll fill you all in tomorrow if he tells me. By this time tomorrow we’ll be at my home in Concord.

The Mourning After

Today Luna tried to lift everyone’s spirits. She and Raito cooked a nice nice breakfast for everyone. After breakfast Luna put a funny movie on. We didn’t really laugh, but it was a good distraction. After a day of movies and games. Nicky was the only one who hadn't started feeling better. I decided to see what we could do to help her. When I asked she yelled, “how can you all laugh and have fun after losing Brian! All of us loved him, and we didn't so much as say his name today!” I told Nicky, “I know it hard on you, but this is life now. I can never ask you to get used to death, but we all have to find ways to cope. And, you know what? You’re right about one thing, we haven’t honored him properly. Tomorrow before we leave we’ll have a memorial for him.”

I Quick Update

Today’s post is gonna be short. Everyone barely, said a word last night and today, and no one ate. None of us could believe Brian was gone we keep hoping he’ll come over that hill and be OK  Of course, Nicky is the most broken. She’s pretty much comatose. We could barely get her to drink some water. Soon we’ll be moving on. Today Zoey hot wired Brian’s father’s truck. We’ll head out in a couple days.

Brian's Move

We lost Brian today. This morning I heard a small explosion I ran to the little window in the door and looked in the store all the psychs were heading to the chip isle  suddenly a water bottle came flying from the bathroom. Brian was throwing water bottles with antacids they would explode when the pressure got to high. He ran and grabbed a walky-talky. There was a box of them in the store room so i grabbed one starts scanning the channels. When suddenly I heard him calling, “is anyone there hello anyone?!” I realized he didn't know we were still here. I yelled “Brian! We’re still ere we’re in the store room. Can you get across the store?” Brian said, “no, there’s to many and I don’t have man antacids left.” We concocted a plan to meet him in front of the store, and use his remaining antacids to make noise to distract the pyschs. Luna and I ran to the back door we opened it, but immediately closed it. There was an army of psychs outside we had completely forgot about them.

“Brian, we can’t get out there are too many psychs. Do you have another idea?” I asked. He responded “just one. Jake Tell Nicky I love her, and I’m sorry. I was confused until I saw him grab a mega phone, and a machete. I yelled at him over the walky, “Brian, No. There’s another way, we’ll figure it out stay in that restroom.” All I heard was “Goodbye Jake”. Suddenly Brian burst out of the restroom with two plunger which held flaming TP rolls. He ran to the front door turned to the psychs and said “come get me you brain dead tripe suckers”. He turned on the siren on the megaphone, threw the plungers into the store, setting it ablaze, and ran out the door. We could hear the siren as he rode his bike past the back of the store attracting all the psychs. After about ten minutes it was clear enough to leave. We fought through a couple psychs, and had a pretty clear ride back to the house.

When we got to the house Raito and Zoey were throwing football outside. Raito called to Nicky to come out. She did and asked, “where’s Brian?!.” My silence was all she needed to know he was gone. She fell to her knees weeping Zoey wrapped her arm around her. I walked up to, kneelt down putting my hand on her shoulder,  and told her, “Brian saved Luna and I, he was a hero. He wanted me to tell you, he was sorry and that he loved you. I’m sorry I can’t begin to know what you’re going through. He was a great guy, and we’ll all miss him, we will all be here for each other. This is our life now loss is something we need to expect.”  This is the moment I realized these people’s lives are in my hand, and I need to be there for them. Tonight I will cry myself to sleep as I remember Anne and Brian.  I pray for the ability to lead and for all of you out there who have lost loved ones.

Like Rats

We'll be spending another night in town. We were in the store eating breakfast and Brian said " I gotta use the crapper". everything was fine. then it happened. The Psychs broke in through the front glass door luckily it was one of those stores with two doors before the actual store. They're getting smarter they used rocks to break the doors. We ran back to the store room there's only one small window, and the roll-up door for deliveries. We all ran with our bikes and barricaded the doors just as the Psychs broke in. when we got into the room my heart jumped into my throat when I realized Brian was still in the bathroom. I started taking down our barricade when Luna told me to wait. She had realized the bathroom is the safest place for him right now. They won't realize he's in there unless he gets there attention. The door into the store had a small window which we covered so the Psychs couldn't see us. so we tore a couple small holes in it to look out and see whats going on. There were about 80 psychs roaming the store. Some had found the deli and were going to town.
Suddenly I looked over and saw Brian peeking out of the bathroom door. he was across the store only about 100 feet, but 80 pyschs are as effective as a brick wall. Then a couple psychs rushed him. Luckily, the Restroom was near hardware,so he grabbed a rope and a case of water. There was nothing we could do. We'll try to figure something  out in the morning. It's hard to get sleep when the psychs could break in at any time.

Going Into Town

Today we went into town and and was it not the day in a park I was hoping. Most of the population of the town left, but there were still about 300 Psychs. We had to be very careful in town. We didn't want to attract to much attention, but we needed to get some supplies. Luckily Brian had some bikes we could ride. The group consisted of Me, Brian, and Luna. I had a feeling that the helicopter might make to much noise. Anyway, we got into town killing about 13 psychs while on the road there. luckily the closest one was about a half mile from the farm and he was shambling the other way. I'm glad we don't have to worry about zombie, so far. As we rolled into town we found we found a pretty deserted town. We turned a corner, and my heart was filled with dread. We saw a huge mob of Psychs surrounding a rumbling generator. As long as we didn't make any noise, we would be perfectly fine. However that's not what happened.
As we were looting the local sporting goods store for all the guns, ammo, and blunt objects we could. we found some saddle bags for our new mountain bikes. We can load up so much more. We packed up our bikes with several guns each and cases of ammo. Next we went over to the drug store and got some food and medical supplies. I found some strong antibiotics. Zoey still has a minor fever, plus we should have some for future use. We were finishing loading up the bikes when we heard it, a dead silence. Just then Brian came belting out a loud tune, half way through his diddy he noticed the silence too, and we saw the first of the hoard rounding the theater. We all grabbed out bikes and rushed inside. We locked the door and barricaded. That is where we are now. Locked in a drug store surrounded by hundreds of Pyschs. I was able to post today because of a 4G card Raito hacked for me. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Tranquility

Today we had a service for Anne. We built a memorial to her in the garden. We all had something nice to say. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that she's gone. She wasn't the first person we had lost. We lost Paladino a few days prior. We barely knew him and yet we were distraught. You can imagine how much worse we are after losing her. We had become family. Sure we never got along, but who ever gets along with all of their family. The fact that she was taken from us just as we had all reconciled makes it so much worse. I keep hoping that I'll turn around and see her walking down that road, but I know it will never happen. I'm sure someday we'll come to terms with this. I'm sure she won't be the last we'll lose. This is a new world of violence and death. Humanity must now come to grips with how little we control our fates.

Even though we lost someone, today was a nice rest from the month of Psychs we've had to deal with. Before the phones went down Brian received a call from his mother that people were leaving town to be with family. So, this means we don't have to worry about to many Psychs. I saw on roaming the field behind Brian's house, this morning. He was probably attracted by the helicopter. I went out to took care of it, but when I got there I hesitated in killing it. I had recognized it's face. It was Brian's brother. I had seen pictures of him on Facebook. When I got back to the house I was going to tell Brian, but I saw how happy everyone was. He and Nicky were sitting in the couch watching a movie, Luna had found a drawing pad and was sketching Zoey, who talking to Raito about some video game they both like. Everyone had spent the morning, well mourning, so I decided not to add anymore heartbreak to the mix. Everyone deserved a day off from the apocalypse.

I spent a couple hours watching TV with Brian and Nicky. We only watched DVDs because most channel stopped working, and for those still up, they were only broadcasting updates on the outbreaks. Afterwards I went and talked to Luna while she continued to sketch people. she even did one of me. She added a silly hat. As I talked to Luna I noticed that Zoey and Raito had disappeared. I wondered where the had gone so I tracked them down. I walked down stairs, and saw out them out the window on the front porch. They were sitting on the swinging chair that hung from the canopy. they were just sitting in silence watching the stars, and I saw her lean in and lay her head on his shoulder. At first I felt jealous because she and I had gone on a couple dates, but then i realized they were an adorable couple and I just went back up stairs and watched Star Wars with Brian and Nicky. Tomorrow we're gonna take bikes into town and get some more food.

We're Off

Right now I write from the second floor of house in a little town called Tranquility. This is Brian's home town and our refuge for a few day until we push on to Concord. As you can tell, we made it, but not without loss. While we were in the warehouse I was filling plastic bottles with excess amounts of air from the air tanks, and a few bolts. I then taped thumb tacks facing inwards at the bottles so that when they hit the ground the thumbtacks will pop the bottle creating a loud back. I was doing this because our plan was to throw them as far as we could from the warehouse so that we could draw them away. So far we had avoided drawing their attention, but then Anne came up and starting chewing me out about our plans to use weapon against the Psychs. She rambled on and I zoned out until the air pressure in the bottle was to much and it exploded. It sounded like a gun shot. and ended up being as deadly as one.

Everyone in the ware house heard it, and so did the Psychs almost immediately they began banging on the big metal roll-up door. We had to act fast or else the whole campus would be baring down on us. I gave the bag of about thirty noise makers to Raito, Nicky, and Zoey. We all grabbed one of out bladed staffs, and the gas cans. We all headed up to the roof, all except Anne. She refused to take part in our violence. As we got to the roof we saw the extent of our problem about a hundred strong Pyschs surrounded the warehouse. I grabbed a noise maker and threw it off the back the following explosion pulled sixteen Pyschs away from the gas pumps. I threw another even farther and twenty more followed suit there were no Psychs within a hundred feet of the pumps, and besides a few stragglers we had a clear path to them.

Brian, Luna, and I proceeded down the ladder, and quickly dispatched the straggling Psychs quietly. Raito, Nicky, and Zoey continued throwing the noise makers to draw away the Psychs. We filled up the ten gallon cans and brought them to the ladder. The previous night we had set up a rope system to pull the gas cans up to the roof. Brian was the first to climb the ladder the me then Luna, but as we ascended a Psych grabbed onto Luna's leg and bit her ankle.  When I heard her scream I looked down and saw the Psych gnawing on her. I jumped straight down of the ladder and landed on the Psych and it let go of her. she and Brian climbed up the ladder and I grappled with the Psych. On the fall I dropped my staff. it was about twenty feet away. Finally I got the Pysch off me and ran for my Staff. Then I noticed five more coming for me. I grabbed my staff, and swung it lopping off the psychs head. Before I knew it I was surrounded, and began a struggle that lasted several moments, but all I could think, was how Luna was. I couldn't stand losing a friend right now. Eventualy i fought off the Psychs, and made my way up the ladder. there stood everyone around Luna. She sat on a air conditioning unit with her bare foot, and I immediately noticed the lack of blood.  Luckily She was wearing a pair of boots thick enough to keep Psychs teeth at bay.

We all headed inside except Brian he stayed on the roof to trow noise makers so we could get the copter outside. When we got inside Anne was sitting filing her nails. When she saw me covered in blood, she immediately ran up to me and asked, "did you kill any people?!". "No of course not", I responded. "Then where'd all this blood come from?" she asked in a grating voice and I said. "well, we were attacked by some re-animated corpses which I dispatched in self-defense." Anne began yelling at me about how evil I was, and that i was a barbarian that should be left to die here. This was the final straw.

I snapped and yelled at her, "You whining pathetic excuse for a human being. We are under attack, and we are just trying to survive. These people are already dead, and trying to EAT US!  We all just risked our lives to save you. So, show some gratitude. We are getting in this helicopter, we're going out side, and guess what I'm gonna kill more Psychs if i have to. Because I will do whatever it takes to keep my family safe, and that includes you.  All we have is each other and your attitude will tear a rift in that. This is war, and there is no room for self-righteousness, only family, love, and compassion. I don't enjoy having to mangle the bodies of my fellow students, every time I kill one I die a little with them, the only way I get through this is that I know they are already dead, and I think of it as avenging them. I would never ask you to fight, but beg you please stop making this harder for those of us who do."

Anne looked me in the eyes, threw her arms around me and wept these words. "I'm sorry. I've been so wrong. You're right you all have done so much and I've just sat back and judged you won't hear another judgmental word from me. The reason I've been  so angry with those who kill these creature is because in one news report I saw my home on fire, and father running out of the house not caring about the flames. He started attacking people. I knew he had got the virus, and I felt that if I accepted these people as dead then I would officially lose my family. Please forgive me." Luna walked up to her and hugged her. Telling her, "We forgive you, and we'll always be here for you."

After a some more heartfelt words from everyone the sound of the Psychs snapped us back to reality. We all hurried to get the gas in the copter and load up a few things. I went up and told Brian to start throwing the noise makers. At the third bang I looked out the windows and noticed the Psychs were clearing out. Leaving only a few out side. While Raito, Zoey, and Anne pushed the copter Luna and I opened the rolling door slowly and quietly, and cleared out the area. We got the copter out where we needed it and we knew that the noise of the rotters would bring the Psychs back so I waved down Brian, but he Yelled, "I'll jump on when you start ascending." I tried to get him come down but he refused. So, we got in and Started up the engines immediately the Psychs began making there way back, and of course the copter decided to stall. I got out to defend the copter, and Anne got out as well. She had grabbed Raito's staff. "You sure?", I asked. She responded "Of course. It's time I avenge my family.

So together we fought the Psychs and Brian threw noise makers to ward of the father ones. Zoey scrambled to fix the helicopter, but we were quickly getting over run. I had already killed six or seven, and Anne had destroyed just as many. I could see though that she wasn't handling it very well. Tears were streaming down her face. Just then the rotters started up we were 30 seconds from being air born. One Psych pulled my staff from me, so I grabbed him and decapitated him with the helicopter blades. While I was doing this Ann got on the Copter and I followed. We were now airborne three feet, but a Psych grabbed Anne's staff, and pulled her down. I yelled at Raito t go back down, but she yelled even louder to keep going. Anne turned into a warrior she killed a good 15 before they overran her. I yelled for her, and the other had to hold me in.

As we ascended to the roof Brian got a running start and jumped ten feet across to the copter. Zoey Nicky said, "you could have just met us down stairs". Brian was out of breath and said "Yeah, but I've always wanted to do that. Hey, where's Anne?" He could tell from our expressions what had happened. "Oh, that's awful. I'm going to miss her." He said. I could tell we were all thinking the same thing. After about an hour of silence, Brian yelled out, "there it is Tranquility. My beautiful home. Over there is my house put her down in that field. We don't have to worry about Psychs. The town is pretty isolated and there is barely any one who lives here." When we got to his house the cars were gone and there was no one inside. We figure they high tailed it out a long time before. So, here we sit glad we're alive, and yet mourning the loss of dear, dear friend. Goodbye Anne we'll miss you.

Getting Ready To Go

I spent most of the day with Zoey. Her fever is beginning to drop, but she's still very weak. Today we tested the copter. We rolled it out to the big open space in front of the warehouse and fired up the engines. The simulator has really come in handy between me and Raito we know the workings of this pretty well. and the rotters spun we got 3 feet off the air then we ran out of gas. the helicopter came crashing down. luckily nothing was damaged. So we considered it a success. We're gonna have to get gas from the pumps behind the warehouse. The only problem is that the Psychs heard us. They came from all around campus. I have a feeling there sight is no good. Eyes rot so fast. My theory is sound. I saw one with no eyes at all, but she was able to chase us. Now that we made a ruckus they're swarming by the dozens. Right now we're making a plan to get out. We going to forge some good weapons to get the gas.

Luckily they don't know we're in the warehouse. there are only three ways in and out. There is a ladder to the roof and a door they, but I doubt the would find their way up that, Then there's the back door, which is firmly braced, and the large metal rolling door which is locked. we should be safe in hear as long as we stay quiet. We're found some air canisters. we're going to make noise makers we can throw away from the warehouse from the roof . that should draw them away far enough for us to slide down the ladder get the gas and climb back up. We're also taking sheets of metal and fastening them to metal pole we've found. Of course Anne is getting mad that we're make . We're packing the copter now so we can just hop in and go. We've stocked it with weapons, noise makers, and some canned goods we found in the office on the second floor. We're gonna let the mob die down over night and go out in the morning for gas.

Zoey and Luna

Today Zoey finished the helicopter, we haven't tested it yet. We want to give Zoey some time to rest her fever is peaking right now at 106 degrees. I'm giving her as many anti biotice as I can without risking killing her. The weird thing is she hasn't begun showing signs of the virus yet. I think since it was just a scratch the only thing that got in was bacteria. I was able to bring some equipment with me, just enough to run simple tests. I've tested the bacteria in her blood and it has decreased since this morning. Hopefully this trend continues, we can't lose her she means too much to all of us. We're a family now I don't think I could stand losing any of them.

Speaking of family my concern for my family back home is growing. My father can fight, but my mother is on immuno-suppressant drugs, due to her heart transplant. he would not be able to survive the infection alone. I'm sure my father is doing his best to take care of her. The first stop on our little helicopter ride will be Brian's home we need to pick up guns. Then we'll go to my home, and stay hold up there I live in a valley which mean limited access for Pyschs. Today I also had a talk with Luna. I tthink it's time I learn more about her.

Her mother was passed away when she was only 3. She doesn't know much about her mother because her father was an introverted man, and still has a hard time talking about her. When she was only 9 she had found an old tape of her mother dancing at a national competition. Her father found her watching it so he went into the attic and brought down a box of DVDs. they were here moms dance videos. her mother had been a professional dancer. Luna's father told her that her mother was the greatest dancer he had ever seen, and that she was never happier than when she was dancing. He told Luna her mother gave up dancing to have her, and dreamed of the day she would teach Luna to dance he gave her a necklace her mom used to wear while dancing. Luna says she only took it off when she was practicing a new move.

That day Luna devoted her life to the art. She mostly learned from watching the videos of her mother, and then came here to get a degree. She told me, that is why she was so good at fighting. She just turned her dance into a martial art. This is also how she got her nick name Looney Luna. Luna went to the same high school as Quentin, and he would see her practicing by herself in the gym. one day he and another guy were harassing her and one guy held her while Quentin dumped her gym bag on the ground. He found the necklace, and began taunting her with it, saying "wow this is beautiful. I bet it would look great on my pit bull's collar." she told me she snapped and that was the only other time she fought any one. She took them both down took her necklace and ran out. Ever since Quentin called her Looney Luna. I never knew she had such a sad past.

The Expedition

Today we made our way to the auto shop to get the computer system. It was Me, and Brian escorted Zoe, we armed ourselves with giant wrenches and a aluminum pole we found. We really didn't want to bring her, but she was worried we'd get the wrong part, and then Luna noticed I left my phone so as we were about half way to the shop here come Luna running with my phone. We couldn't let her go back by herself so she had to stay with us. I was so mad, but it's hard to stay angry at her. Especially when we passed an overlook down on the rest of campus. The grief filled my heart when I saw over a thousand of my fellow student roaming the campus, all dead now. we have to find a cure. After about 20 minutes of walking we got to the auto-shop. Brian stayed with the girls and I went to clear the building. I checked all the doors, and windows. Most of them were locked, and I braced some with chairs. after I secured the main garage I waved the rest of them in.

When in the garage we watched the door while Zoey removed the computer. Brian went and looked out the window. He came running back, and told us there was a horde of about 50 Psychs headed straight for us. There no way we can fight through that many. Physically Zoey is your average girl she could probably handle a few Psychs, but Luna is so small and weak, or so we thought. When the Zoey had finally gotten the part out she grabbed a soldering gun and some other supplies for the copter, the Psych had surrounded the building. We had to make a plan.

The Psychs had been spread thin. They had heard us and were now banging at every door. We decided to go out the door we had come in. there were about ten Psychs there and it was the most isolated group of them. we would then run like crazy back to the warehouse, and hope they can't follow us.  most of them are rotting corpses so they shouldn't be able to run to fast, but those who died only a couple days ago could possibly still run, and without the problem of tiring out, or the worry of ripping muscles. So we made our way to the door we could here them moaning and scratching at the door. we braced ourselves and gave the girls the better weapons. Just as we open the door I noticed a baseball bat. I looked to Brian and, said "play ball".

We Sparta kicked open the door which knocked half of them down. I took out a Psych right of and Brian curb-stomped one. I heard Zoey scream behind me, and I turned around but all I saw was a dead Psych laying at my feet, and a shaking Zoey. Brain took another down, but one jumped on his back. I hit the psych repeatedly, but it was to preoccupied with trying to bite Brian. finally I whacked it in the head, and i had to pry it of him. he was covered in Psych goo, but not bitten. Before the five we knocked over could regain footing we scurried off. To my horror I had been right about the ones that were newly dead they could run, and run fast they were catching up to us there were four on our tale and our only option was to isolate them and fight.

We turned a corner into a construction site, and spun around to fight. one came right at me. I swung my bat and knocked his head clean off. The second ran for Brian and knocked down and a third jumped me and I rolled fighting it. The last one went for Zoey. I thought we were done for until suddenly the Psych is was fighting lost it's head I pushed it off me in time to see Luna ram a piece of re-bar into the head of the one that knocked Brian over, and in one swift move she threw it into the last Psych. She then ran over and administered the final blow. We all just stood there with our jaws on the ground. Luna said, " Come on let's go". so we did. As we ran back we got jumped by another Psych and it scratched Zoey. Right now she's coughing and has a 104 degree fever, but is still pushing forward on the copter. I hope that she didn't catch the virus Everyone I know that caught it, got it through a bite, maybe this will just be an infection. either way she has my prayers, and if any of you out there could pray for her that would be amazing.

Part Needed

Today while we were fixing the copter we realized we needed a command computer for it. It's not something we can build from the limited resources in the warehouse. So tomorrow we're gonna go to the auto shop and get one from a 1996 corolla Zoey had been previously working on. She says it might work, so it's worth a shot.

So today I want to talk more about Raito. My roommate is from Tokyo Japan. He was raised by a computer
programmer and a writer. He always talks about how his family is so perfectly balanced with the logical calculating father, and the creative free spirit mother. After the hurricane that devastated Japan Raito knew he wanted to study philosophy. He had a desire to find answers as to why this world spins on, lately we've been talking about my faith. He's been very interested in it. He always wonders how I can be so optimistic even in a time like this, and I just tell him that Christ sustains me, and as long as I breath I'm blessed. Raito and Have become fast friends we would stay up late talking about our two cultures. I look forward to having more talks in the future.

Well hopefully tomorrow will be our last day in this warehouse. I peaked out the door yesterday and saw a couple Psychs milling about. I think tomorrow's little expedition might make us come to grips with an act we'll have to get used to. Destroying Psychs to defend ourselves.

Aaaaaaaw Yeah

This morning's light blessed us with a beautiful sight. Remember a couple weeks ago when I posted about veterans appreciation week, well the Psychs began their attack before they could pick up the helicopter from campus. Now it sits in front of me as I type this. When I said Zoey could fix one of these the other day I was serious. Her father was in Vietnam and was a mechanic on these bad boys. She used to study the schematics for them. So, Zoey, Brian, and I have been working hard to get it working were having to improvise a bit. The helicopter had been decommissioned, so we have to rebuild most of the engine from part around the warehouse. Luckily all the wiring is still good. Today I downloaded Helicopter Simulator from Steam, they were having an apocalypse sale. Raito and I will be practicing as much as we can hopefully it's accurate enough to get us ready to fly a real one.

So, Every once in a while I wanna post about the people in our group. This way, you can get to know us all better. Today I'll talk about Brian and Nicky. Brian and Nicky are an odd couple. They are so different, but somehow it seems perfect. Brian is a very vocal person. He shares his opinions and doesn't care who's listening. It makes for very interesting conversations. Especially because when he says somethin offensive it roll offf everyones back, but Anne get's so mad at him. As for Nicky she's really sweet I've never seen her be mean to anyone. Although, she's no pushover. If you were to get her mad she will not hold back, or so we've all been told. None of us have actually seen her mad not even Brian. It's a good thing both of her parents were in the medical field. That will come in handy. She was very knowledgable about medicine before college, but there's a difference between knowledge and experience. we'll see how she does in real life situations.

I bet it's nice to have someone like that at a time like this. I know it sucks to be alone. Ever since this whole thing started whatever might have been going on between Zoey has come to an abrupt halt. Hopefully we can pick things back up soon. Plagues really through wrenchs into the works don't they?

NOT DEAD!!

We made it out, and it was a miracle from God. So much happened yesterday I had no time to post. I was spending time with those infected. I had to abandon my lab, but I was able to take some basic equipment. enough to use the blood of those bitten to discover the reason the virus adapts so quickly is because it bonds to the bodies genetic code, and it speeds up the bodies adaptive qualities and uses the bodies own antibodies to fight the anti-virals. this is a huge step towards a cure.

While spending time with the three victims, teacher spoke to me. The teachers name is Joe Palladino he's the adviser for the film department. I met him at orientation I got lost and ran in to him he was carrying a poster for "Revenge of the Jedi" (this was the title of Star Wars 6 until it was changed to "Return of the Jedi"). Being a huge Star Wars fan I thought this was really cool, and we've talked many times since then. Anyway, he told me yesterday about a rumored secret tunnel system that connects every building together. It even leads to an exit on the beach. I spent the rest of the day searching for the secret passage, my search turned out to be fruitless.

Later that night while everyone slept, I awoke to a disconcerting silence. There was  the usual snoring and breathing of hundreds of people sleeping but something was missing. Coughing! The jock who had been bitten developed a horrible cough while being sick. I rushed over to see if he had expired, but I found a figure standing over the three bitten victims the jock and glee club kid a bloody holes where their temples once were, and the killer stood over Palladino ready to strike again. I tackled them, but they ran off before i could see their. Although I had an idea of who it was, and it terrified me because that means the line for this had gone from blurred to gone.

The next day we wrapped the two murdered people up in curtains and had a wake for them. Palladino asked why I saved him. He was good as dead anyway. I told him, "All human life is important, and as long as someones heart beats they are alive in my book." I also told him, that when he turns I will the one to do the hard thing, and take him out. definitely the most bizarre conversation I've ever had. They started questioning student about the murders, but I knew exactly who to go to.

After the wake I hunted down Quentin. I found him ripping the wings of a fly. He looked up at me and said, "What do you want lardo? " I didn't say a word just grabbed him by his collar and slammed him up against. "What the f..." i punched him in the gut before he could finish his sentence, and told him, " Shut Up! You don't say anything unless you're answering my question. Got it, you sadistic inbred goon !?" He just nodded. "which one of your nut jobs killed those two people?" he said, "people? you mean the Psychs?", "No, I mean the to living human being murder last night. I know for a fact they hadn't turned yet. You guys crossed the line, and you will pay." I responded. He just shrugged and said " It's a new world Humans are done> we might as well enjoy the ride out as a new top of the food chain rises. You should let go man, we're done and the Psychs will rule this world soon. Your a religious man, well where's your pathetic God now!?"

I must admit I lost my temper I threw his into this old large painting that was on the adjacent wall. But rather than hit the wall behind the painting Quentin went through it. Bu were in the basement and the walls are cement. When I rushed over I found that he had fallen into hole in the wall, and in the hole was a door I opened the door to find a tunnel. It was the one Palladino talked about. I looked at him while he rubbed the back of his head in pain. I looked at him and said "Where's my God now? he's right beside me. Now get up and go run back to your freaks" He ran off and I just stayed looking at this miracle.

In the tunnel there were colored lines on the floor and a guide to say what lines led where. Red went to the beach, Blue to Stork tower, and green to the warehouse. I'm assuming the warehouse is the big red storehouse at near the Film department. I brought this info back to the small council of teachers in charge, and they told me the military has plans to evac at the beach, but we had no way of getting there. they will be shipping people out to oil riggers off the coast those are the safest places. We began filling people into the tunnel. Me and the gang volunteered as wranglers. Although, we thought it would be a simple task it got complicated when a group of about ten psychs busted in and all hell broke lose every one rushed the tunnel.

Me, the gang and a few others were fighting of the Psychs some people got bit, and when that happened there were two reactions. Either they gave up and collapsed in tears or, the turned into war machines. They knew a bite was death so it came down to whether they had nothing to live for any more or they had nothing to lose. Of course Quentin and his sadist were long gone. The one time they could be useful they're gone. they left very soon after a confronted Quentin. The last couple stragglers got in the tunnel, and we started backing up ourselves to the tunnel but we where surrounded while we fought more Psychs came. there were two blocking the exit. It was just me and the gang. Out numbered we all backed up together prepare for the fight of our lives.

When suddenly out of nowhere comes Palladino. he was swinging one of those things banks use to make line queues. he took out the two blocking the tunnel with one mighty swing. He yelled, " Go I'll hold them off, I'm repaying a debt." He looked me right in the eyes when he said that. "Thank you", I said. He swung the post again knocking a Psych's head clean off " you're welcome. Now go!", and with that he flung himself into the hoard swinging the post like grand slam batter. The door closed behind us and that was the last we ever saw of Joe Palladino.

We sealed the door behind us, and ran to catch up with rest of the group but we heard helicopter above ground. We then heard explosions and the ground shook. The military must have been trying to keeps the Psychs from the beach. However, as we ran down the tunnel we could hear voices, but just as we were about 50 feet from everyone else there was another series of explosions, and the tunnel collapsed between us and the other students. There was no way of getting to them. Anne freaked out and started yelling expletives. Brian asked, "well Jake, what now? It took me a second to think but then I answered, "We already passed several other corridors including the two big ones for Stork tower and the warehouse. So we have a choice. Where do we go"? We decided we would go to the warehouse because it was passed the line of fire so there should be less Psychs. By the time we reached the warehouse we were so tired. So we found a small room on the second floor that we could lock and get some rest. It was so dark we could barely see luckily I had internet to post this. So, I"ll be back tomorrow, thanks to God and Joe Palladino.

This Might be the End.

So the inevitable happened. A girl from the glee club used some goth guys nail polish, and a yelling fight started, and it escalated when the girls boyfriend came over and shoved the goth guy over a tables into one of the artists while he was drawing a really nice picture in pen ruining that. During the hug screaming match that followed Quentin and his Psycho saw there opportunity to get their daily quota a sadism in. Grace and Oliver went over and began beating the glee girl and her boyfriend, and this started an all out brawl me and my group just hung back trying to pull people out of the fight.

Thanks to Quintin and his freaks three people are badly hurt and everyone hates each other. That's not even close to the worst part of the day. Around 6:30 at night a couple of the jock thought they'd go up stairs in search of food. They snuck past the teachers guarding the door and went upstairs. what they didn't realize was that the upstairs was not secured from Psychs. They got sighted by one and then led about 20 of them down stairs. So now we're trapped in a tiny food court with even less space. The Psychs are banging on the doors and we can't brace them for long. and we have nowhere to go. In the panic of the rush here, fifteen people got killed and now we have three bitten people. one of the glee club guys, one of the jocks that started this mess, and the teacher that runs the film department here.

I wanted to be a beacon of light in this dark time, but it looks like this might be the end. If this is my last post I want to just say one thing. Stay unified find the things that make you the same, not the things that separate us. Don't let violence consume you. Be led by mercy, and love, not hate and selfishness. Hopefully I'll post tomorrow, but if I don't Goodbye.

Official Count

Today we got an official count of the people in the Ucen there are about 750 student and staff. Before the Psych rush  there were two thousand people on campus. That means over a thousand people have either been killed or escaped by other means. This is horrible I looked out a window today, and saw my history teacher shambling around in a bath robe. So many people I knew and cared about are gone now. Although, things are much better for the survivors.

The food here in the Ucen is getting scarce, and help is still three to five days away. The groups that began forming have begun to make boundaries with chairs and other furniture. It's amazing how fast we've adapted to this kind of living. a bartering system has even started. It began when the artist ran out of paper, and the nerds had excess so the bartered paper for commission drawing of them as different sci-fi character. From something so simple came a whole economy, but that economy is t risk. with food scares the goth kids won't be able to barter food they refuse to eat, for help from the jocks, and if the goths can't get the jocks help to finish their borders then there will be fight about the boundaries between goths and the glee club. I'm sure it'll all be OK... ah who am I kidding? We're all screwed.

Looney Luna

Today I've been talking with Brian about our emergency escape plans, but we can't figure out a solution to the hordes of Psychs out side. We don't have any weaponry, there are baseball bats in the school store  but that won't be enough. there are at leas 3 hundred Psychs now. We were hoping for a quick evacuation, but homeland security is a little busy right now. Santa Barbara is a low density Psych population. I also got in a fight with Quentin today.

We were all having lunch today and Quentin and his Psych hunters came by, and asked why were we hanging out with this loser. He was pointing at Luna. He started calling her Looney Luna. He kicked over her plate and said "Oops sorry Luna don't go loony on me, HAHA!". I could tell Luna was hold back tear, bot well, but she was being strong. I stood up and told Quentin to back off and apologies. I knew kind delegation was fruitless, but if I resorted straight to violence I'd be no better than him, and I was always raised to never throw the first punch. There are, however, certain exception, lines he could cross. So he pushed me aside and told me to go jump of a cliff. Continued taunting Luna again this time poking at her to try to get her to cry more (line crossed). This time a grabbed him by the popped collar of his polo and clocked him across the face. It barely phased him. He responded in turn with a punch to the gut. We continued to fight, until we had to be pulled off each other. I have a black eye, bruised rib, and a fat lip, but you should see the other guy.

I've been continuing work on a cure. Me and my professor have been joined by every biologist in the school, and the surrounding area. Luckily we were able to set up a fairly decent lab in the basement of the Ucen.. The disease is becoming more and more terrifying the more we learn. The virus can adapt incredibly fast, faster than any anti-viral can be effective. What we need is something that can speed up the effect of anti-virals. We even experimented with homeopathic methods in hopes that something old and lost could help us. If ancient people could stop this then why can't we. Unless this is something so old man hadn't been inhabited Canada yet, which would mean it would need a different host to sustain itself. We should start experimenting with animals if we can. Maybe there's an animal that has the natural ability to to heal itself from the disease.

Clans

It's amazing how fast little clans begin to form. students are already separating into little communities. It's like high school all over again. All the jocks are hanging out together, as are the nerds, and pot heads. Although something else bothers me. I saw the tattoo from the Psych hunting videos. There is a group of students that are intimidating the other student. I notice they all have markings on they're arms. I think they're Trophies of the Psychs they've killed. each student has at the thirty each. I know some of them the alpha dog is a guy name Quentin. He's the one with the tattoo. There is a duo of twin brother and sister. They're names are Grace and Oliver. And finally there's Dolph and his skin head cronies.

Today we added a couple people to our group. The first is my roommate he's a Japanese exchange student. His name is Raito Coli. He's a philosophy major, and he is a wiz at the computer. He can hack anything. He's also a major prankster. Once he hacked my bank account and bought a giant box of pink tutus. His pranks tend to get out of hand. I made him pay me every penny back, and he had to wear one of the tutus for a week. Anyway, the other person we picked up was a girl that none of us really know, she didn't want to be left alone and no one else would take her so we brought her in. I've seen her a couple times before. She's undeclared as of now, and very shy all we know so far is that her name is Luna.

The Gang

The plague is picking up speed. A horde of a hundred Psychs rushed the campus. They tore down the chain link fences like paper I'm guessing they ran out of food in IV with people leaving town it was only a matter of time. Right now the cops are hunting them down and student are being brought to the Ucen A couple weeks ago I mentioned it was a cold war bunker. there is enough food to take care of the couple thousand student left on campus for a week or so. My friends and are sticking together, except Allen he was the only one who could leave campus. He didn't even say goodby. Brian woke up this morning and Allen was gone he left a lot of his stuff, but most of his cloths, his computer, and survival kit were gone.

The rest of us are planning on leaving soon, but we don't know how. We were thinking about hot-wiring a car, Zoey can do it. I know my classmate had a car before he was turned if we could find it, we would use that. However he lives deep in IV, and travel even on campus now is dangerous. Our best bet is to stay put until help arrives. We've made a promise no matter what happens we stick together.

Right now it's me, Brian, Nicky, Anne and Zoey. We're rather ragtag. None of us could survive alone, but together we have all the skill to survive. I can lead I've had a lot of training. I'm also very good wit tools, and building. Brian is smart he's quite the strategist he'll be my right hand man. We are both good with firearms(if we had any). Nicky's mother and father were both doctors, and she was studying to be a surgeon, and Zoey can fix anything mechanical she could fix a helicopter if she needed to. To bad we don't have Allen though he was a sharpshooter. That could've really com in handy.

Psychs and Sadists

I saw pictures of San Fransisco today, they've blockaded the bridges in hopes to contain those already infected. I'm really worried all of my family is up in that area, and no one is reporting Concord were my parents live. I tried calling them but cell service has been really spotty lately, and they're not responding to Facebook or e-mail. I'm really worried. San Fransisco is completely over run by the Pyschs. My mother is very susceptible to illness. She's a transplant patient which means she has a lot of medications she has top take, and I'm worried about how hard it will be for her to get her meds. I'm sure my father is doing the best he can to protect her. He's always done an amazing job of taking care of her.

As for what's happening here, Pyschs are everywhere in IV although it's hard to tell them from the usual IV college student. They both have blank expressions and insatiable hunger. Actually my friend Anne has been pretty grumpy lately, because her supplier got turned three days ago. A little clean living will do her some good. A new sport has arose out of this whole situation.

Some of the more sadistic students go out at night and hunts Psychs. No one knows who it is but the police find a good thirty Pyschs dead every morning, and people have been posting videos online of the game. One of them does, however, have a tattoo on the under side of his left forearm. It's in the shape of two snake laying in the shape of a swastika (nutjob). They wear mask so they're not identified. Don't get me wrong these Pyschs need to be taken out, but this is not the way. These morons are gonna get killed, turned or worse. As they make a sport of killing these corpses the line between corpse and human might begin to blur. Soon this world will be everyman for himself, and I don't want to have to deal with hordes of Psychs and Psychos as well.

Two Weeks

New York, Seattle, Boston, and several other northern cities have fallen and the disease pushes south. My professor and I have tested the strongest anti-biotics in the world, and yet nothing touches this virus. at best we can slow down death to about a ten days, but the problem is even if we can lower the bacteria, the virus is still there, and no anti-virals work either. This is becoming hopeless. this country is falling, and we can't stop it. This has happened so fast. Just two weeks ago I was laughing with my friends at dinner, daydreaming about my future and now that is all gone.
All I can say is prepare. Prepare for what is ahead because this is not going away soon. Be with your friends, hold your family close, and tell someone you love them, because this could be your last chance. I am going to continue to update this blog as often as I can I want to become a beacon of hope. As long as the internet is up, and my heart beats I will continue this story.

This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Well I was going to talk about my date with Zoey, but noooooo the CDC screwed that up. It came out today that the CDC wasn't disposing of the bodies properly, and that several psychs got out. Now there have been out breaks in several more cities including Santa Barbara. Now we're being quarantined to our rooms, and people will be coming tor our dorms for blood testing to see if we caught the disease. My roommate and I are clean, but they've found two student with the disease already. one was a classmate of mine. We worked on a group project together, and now he's good as dead. Unless they find a cure.
Tomorrow we'll be released from quarantine, and restricted from leaving campus. there are fences and check points everywhere. the security is tighter than on Halloween. I'm going to work with my professor on finding something that can fight this disease, we have the blood from the infected students, as for the students themselves they'll be going to a care facility in Goletta.

Friends Update

I had lunch with Zoey today she's a lot of fun to be around. She's a bit rough around the edges, but in a good way. I've been hoping to get a chance to meet Evelyn, but I realized I've become infatuated with a girl I've never really met. My friends keep telling me to stop obsessing over meeting her and find a girl who I know. So, I've decided to ask Zoey out. We're gonna get coffee tomorrow.
As for my other friends Brian and Nicky are doing well they just celebrated they're two month-iversery. We all chipped in and got them a cake. As for Allen, well he seems to disappear every weekend, and when he shows up on Monday he won't tell us what he did that weekend. He just shrugs and says "same old, same old". I've realized that after knowing this guy for over two months I barely know him, and I'm not alone Brian feels the same way to.
Today at dinner we all joked about what super heroes we'd be Brian was Captain Marvel, Nicky was the Ms. Martian, Allen was Deadshot, and I was the Tick. For those of you who don't know who the Tick is here's a link. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkmzTIimu9s) I'm not sure whether to be complimented or insulted. Anyway things have really quieted down since that disease scare.

Good News

Finally some good news today. The out break in New York is decreasing. The CDC released a PSA, telling people to be wary of this disease and to get to the nearest quarantine center for treatment. They are keeping their head up high in hopes of a cure. Right now all the can do is pump people full of anti-biotics and pain killers. The PSA showed a step by step process of disposal for those who die at home. they're not leaving anything to chance. It seems as though life is getting back to normal. i actually haven't really talked about my life recently.

The CDC

New York has seen an out break, and there have been several cases in Boston, Seattle, and a couple as far south as San Fransisco. The CDC determined that the infected will be brought to quarantine were they will kept comfortable, studied, and properly disposed of when they pass. The governments first priority will be containment and finding a cure. I just hope they can deal with these things when they come back to life.
Don't get me wrong, but these things need to be taken care of i hope they have the guts to destroy the brain before they come back. Cremation is to slow these thing come back as fast as 30 minutes, and burning a body takes hours. I'm just glad the powers that be came up with a plan this quickly. Hopefully it was fast enough

Take Action

Today reports out of Canada stopped.  The whole nation is on lock down from what we can tell. The infected have begun to make their way to the border, and cases are popping up all over the US. The only way to stop these things is destruction of the brain, they haven’t found a cure yet, they’re not even close yet. Now debates are starting. Some want to take drastic action and kill any infected (the term psych is being popularized) on sites. However many other want to capture them and study them, try and save them. These people use the term “victim”. In my opinion they already died and are committing heinous crimes, without cause, or the ability to reason. We need to take the side of caution and destroy them.

This has been a real heated debate in my group of friends, but mostly between me and Anne. She wants to try to save them. She says they’re still people. We’ll see if she holds that opinion when she’s corned by one and it begins looking at her like a three course meal. I’m worried the beurocracy is going to be our downfall. Canada is falling because they were surprised, but we know how to take care of this, and we might refuse to.
